No Fun Allowed by Mew-tew No Fun Allowed by Mew-tew
Stuck in a rut. Nothing just clicks with me anymore. Can't find that perfect mix of what I want in my art.

Bleh.

By mix....do you mean what kind of style you are looking for?

Yeah. Like Simple yet stylized. I idolize cartoons for their charm in their character designs.

why not look at some artists that do that type of style and try to mimic it

It's what I've been doing in my spare time. Nothing just clicks in my head.

what if you get a few styles that you like and try to merge them? or maybe with one style you like, try to mimic that and then add your own style to it. For example, with one style I like, I tend to make the legs a little bit longer since I feel more comfortable with that.

Deep down with what's nagging me is that I can't just break free of what I've learned. I know the basics but I nitpick every single thing I do. I can't do what you do with making the legs longer. If I did that I would constantly fix them until they look 'normal'. I'm too hard on myself and it is what is keeping me from finding that sweet spot.

I want to stylize, but I can't stop being so static and standard.

That is exactly what I do and how I feel o_o
I also find it very very very difficult to accept my own art. Everything else just seems so much better.
I'm also in the same process as you. I feel my stuff to be very static and standard as well >_<

Slap yourself with a stick. Helps me when I'm stuck.
